Ingredients Needed for this Recipe
Here’s what you need to make these adorable treats!
- Vanilla Cake Mix– When it comes to Bunny Butt Cupcakes, a light and moist vanilla cake mix is almost always the way to go! For the best results, you’ll want to choose a cake mix with no artificial flavors or colors– that’s where Pillsbury Classic White Cake and Betty Crocker Super Moist French Vanilla Cake mixes come in. Both of these mixes use natural flavoring, giving you an irresistible end result every time.
- Regular Marshmallows– If you’re looking for regular marshmallows to use in making a Bunny Butt Cupcake Recipe, you should look no further than Kraft Jet-Puffed Marshmallows! The biggest and fluffiest marshmallows around are an excellent choice for your baking needs.
- Mini Marshmallows– Everyone knows that marshmallows are the key ingredient in a classic Bunny Butt Cupcake Recipe, so you want to make sure to pick the right type of mini marshmallow for the best possible outcome. Jet-Puffed Mini Marshmallows are perfect for this recipe because they have just enough size and shape to create an adorable and delicious bunny tail.
- Unsalted Butter– Unsalted butter is the ideal ingredient for Bunny Butt cupcake frosting because it has a mild, yet distinct flavor that allows the other flavors of your dessert to shine through. Plus, its creamy texture makes it especially easy to work with when you’re decorating–it won’t clump together like salted varieties can, which can help create the perfect look for your bunny butts!
- Confectioners Sugar– Confectioners sugar, also known as powdered sugar, is a great choice for frosting Bunny Butt Cupcakes. Its fine texture results in an even distribution in the frosting that’s perfect for covering the cupcake and its decorations.
- Milk– Who doesn’t love the thought of a cupcake with bunny butt frosting? It’s the perfect sweet treat for any occasion! But have you ever wondered why milk is used when making Bunny Butt Cupcake frosting? Milk is the secret ingredient that helps bring out the rich sweetness and smooth texture cupcakes need to be truly delicious.
- Pink Gel Food Coloring– For those seeking a special, attention-grabbing treat for a Easter celebration or to surprise someone special, Pink Gel Food Coloring is the perfect ingredient for adding some fun to Bunny Butt Cupcake frosting. Thanks to its vibrant color, this food coloring can instantly elevate the cupcake’s decor.

Can I Use a Different Cupcake Flavor for the Bunny Butt Cupcakes?
Absolutely! The great thing about these bunny butt cupcakes is that you can use whatever cupcake flavor you like. Chocolate, vanilla, or strawberry – there’s no wrong choice when it comes to creating festive Easter cupcakes that everyone will love.
Of course, if you want to stick with the original bunny butt cupcakes recipe and flavor, then go for a simple light vanilla cake as your base.
However, if you’re feeling adventurous, don’t be afraid to customize with different flavors each time you make them – the possibilities are endless!
Can I Make the Bunny Parts Ahead of Time?
Making bunny butt cupcakes for Easter is such a fun activity and will make your celebration really special. If you want to get a jump start on the project, you might be wondering if it’s possible to make the bunny parts ahead of time. The good news is that it is totally doable!
All you need to do is store them in an airtight container until you’re ready to assemble. Not only will this help you save time when putting together the cupcakes, but it’s also a good way to make sure those little tails don’t disappear before you get a chance to use them!
What’s the Best Way to Store these Bunny Butt Cupcakes?
Storing bunny butt cupcakes with marshmallows can be tricky. Many people think the only way to keep them fresh is to keep them in an airtight container, but it turns out a cooler method is actually better. Keeping them in a cool, dry place like on top of your refrigerator or in a pantry is ideal since keeping them refrigerated will cause the marshmallows to become too hard.
If you can’t find an area like that, then placing them on a plate wrapped in plastic wrap and thawing each one just before serving will help keep their moistness and delicious flavor intact.
