HOW LONG DO Christmas Tree Sugar Cookies Last?
On the counter, these simple Christmas tree cookies don’t last long at my house. You set them on a plate on the counter and before you know it, little kids are no longer complaining of needing a snack–and the cookies are gone. Weird coincidence, sure. Or is it?
In all seriousness, if you want to keep the cookies around, I recommend putting them in a single layer in an airtight container. They’ll last 3-5 days on the counter without any problem. If you’d like to keep them a bit longer than that, even, plan to take that airtight container of cookies and pop it in the fridge.
In the refrigerator, the cookies should last 12-15 days without drying out.
CAN YOU FREEZE Christmas Tree Sugar Cookies
So…you’re planning to make a million of these Christmas Tree Sugar Cookies and you want to store them for longer than 15 days? Well, have I got a plan for you! These easy Christmas cookies will freeze really well.
Wait until the frosting on the trees is hard crusted (let them sit overnight on the counter or 2 hours in the fridge). Just put them in a single-layer in the airtight container and you’re welcome to pop them in the freezer. That way they’ll last 3-5 months.
When you’re ready to have a Christmas tree cookie, you’ll just pull them out, let them thaw on the counter and you’re good to go!
Or, you can always just freeze the dough, but wrap it good in clear plastic wrap multiple times and then again in foil. This is how my wife does it.
TIPS FOR BAKING Christmas Tree Sugar Cookies
There’s not a whole lot that could go wrong with these cookies. They’re supposed to be flat and low. If your first batch comes out too fluffy (it happens) you can mash the cookies down a little before you pop them in the oven.

Notes
The recipe for the sugar cookies themselves yield more than one dozen cookies, but we recommend making these one batch at a time and refrigerating any remaining cookie dough for other holiday recipes.
