EASY Chocolate Snickerdoodle COOKIEs RECIPE
WHAT YOU NEED TO MAKE THIS EASY Chocolate SNICKERDOODLE COOKIE RECIPE
Cookies
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1 ¼ cups softened butter
- 2 eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- 3 ½ cups flour
- ¼ cup cocoa powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
Topping
- 3 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon cocoa powder

HOW TO MAKE THIS Chocolate SNICKERDOODLE COOKIE RECIPE
Preheat your oven to 375 degrees and line two cookie sheets with parchment paper.
Cream sugar and butter together in a small mixing bowl.
Add the eggs one at a time and the vanilla and mix until smooth.
Whisk together the dry ingredients in a second bowl.
Combine the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients in 1/3 increments, stirring between each increment until the dough is consistently smooth.
Mix together the sugar and cocoa powder for the topping either in a bowl or on a plate. I prefer a plate so I can roll the cookie dough through it.
Roll the cookie dough into 2-inch size balls and roll in the topping.
Place each cookie dough ball onto the cookie sheet, spaced 2-inches apart.
Press each ball of dough down to flatten.
Bake for 8-10 minutes.Remove from the oven and allow to cool completely.

HOW LONG DO Chocolate SNICKERDOODLE COOKIES LAST?
If you want to leave your chocolate snickerdoodle cookies on the counter, I’d recommend that you keep them in an airtight container so they stay as fresh as possible. If you do this, you can expect your snickerdoodle cookies to last about 3-5 days.
If you want your cookies to last longer, like 8-12 days, you can put them in the same airtight container and just put them in the fridge. Because I don’t like cold cookies, if I put them in the fridge, I usually let them rest on the counter for a while, when I’m ready for a snack (or I just pop them in the microwave for 5-10 seconds).
CAN Chocolate SNICKERDOODLE COOKIES BE FROZEN?
Yes! Chocolate snickerdoodle cookies make for a great frozen cookie. You just place the cookies in an airtight container and then they’ll last for 3-5 months in the freezer. Then, when you’re ready to snack, you just warm them in the microwave for 10-15 seconds.

WHAT TO DO WHEN My Chocolate Snickerdoodle COOKIES ARE FLAT?
Oh, your cookies came out flat? That’s too bad. Good news, though? I have a handful of tips to troubleshoot your flat cookies:
- The butter wasn’t room temperature, but was melted. You have to use room temp butter.
- The oven was too hot. If you didn’t set the oven to a higher temperature than the recipe called for, your oven might need to be calibrated.
- The oven was cold. Yeah, if your oven wasn’t fully preheated or never reached the required temperature, the cookies might not have risen. So, again, if you didn’t pop your cookies in the oven too early, then you might need to calibrate it.
- You used really old baking soda. Did you know baking soda can go “flat”? Yeah, it totally can! So, be sure your baking soda is no more than 6-months old and has been stored in an airtight container.
