I love easy Valentine Oreo Cookie Balls. It’s one of the easiest no-bake cookie recipes that you can make and they’re perfect for a Valentines school party or get-together.
Cookie ball recipes are something you can make with the kids–and they’ll love making them! Because smashing Oreos? Kind of the most fun any kid can have. LOL!
What You Need to Make how to make VALENTINE OREO BALLS
- 18 Oreo cookies
- 4 oz. cream cheese, softened
- 2-3 oz. red rolling fondant
- 2 cups white candy melts
- 1 tsp coconut oil
How to Make Valentine inspired Oreo Cookie Balls
Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
With a rolling pin and zipper baggie or a food processor, crush the Oreo cookies.
Combine Oreo crumbs and cream cheese until mixed completely.
Make 15 balls of the cookie mixture and place on the prepared cookie sheet.
Chill cookie balls for 30 minutes in the fridge.
Create the fondant hearts by rolling 30-40 fondant balls, in varying sizes anywhere between ¼ inch to 1/3 inch in size.
To create a heart shape, press two of the fondant balls together and then pinch them together at the bottom.
Remove the chilled cookie balls from the fridge.
Combine candy melts and coconut oil in a microwave-safe bowl.
Heat in the microwave in 30 second intervals, stirring between each interval, until the mixture is completely melted.
Dip each cookie ball into the melted chocolate, rotating it with a fork (or two) until the ball is completely coated, then and place back on the cookie sheet.
Immediately top each truffle with 1-3 fondant hearts.
Allow truffles to cool at least 45 minutes for the chocolate to set before you enjoy!
And that’s it! So easy, right?! But before you head off to the kitchen, let’s talk about some of the questions I get asked about making these cookies–that way you don’t run into any trouble.
WHy are my Cookie Balls Falling Apart?
Oh, that’s just too bad. Guess you’ll just have to start over–just kidding! If you put too many Oreo cookies in the mix or there wasn’t quite enough cream cheese, it’s really easy to end-up with cookie balls that aren’t sticking together.
Don’t panic, though. There’s an easy fix. You can add either of a couple of things to make your cookie balls stick together a little better, if you, by chance, have cookie balls that are crumbly:
- 2 tablespoons corn syrup
- 1/3 cup cream cheese
- 1/4 cup cake frosting
See? Nothing here that’s going to make you anything but even more in love with your cookie balls.
I don’t have Cream Cheese–what Else Can I use to Make Cookie Balls?
Oh, you can absolutely still make truffles if you’re out of cream cheese, so don’t give up yet. I’ve found a couple of things you can use with your crushed Oreo cookies to make cookie balls perfect for truffles:
- 1/2 cup corn syrup
- 2 cups cake frosting
Of course, the best way is to just make the truffles with the cream cheese, because that’s what makes sense. But if you don’t have it, these will work in a pinch.
