What You Need to Make Sugar Roll Cookies
- 1 Package of Sugar Cookie Mix
- 1 Stick of Butter
- 1 Egg
- Holiday Sprinkles
- Small Amount of Flour

How to Make Sugar Roll Cookies
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees and line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
Mix up your cookie dough per the package directions.
Mine called for 1 egg and 1 stick of butter.
Sprinkle a small amount of flour on a sheet of parchment paper and turn out cookie dough onto it.
Using your hands, spread the cookie dough out into a large rectangle.
Working in squares, cover the dough in alternating sets of colored sprinkles.
With the parchment paper as your lever, roll the cookie dough like a cinnamon roll, covering the dough with sprinkles as you roll.
Once you have the dough rolled, pat down the outside with additional holiday sprinkles.
Slice ¼” thick sections and place them 2 inches apart on the prepared cookie sheet.
Bake the cookies for 9-10 minutes.
Remove the cookies from the oven and allow them to cool on the cookie sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Enjoy!

HOW LONG DO sugar roll COOKIES
Christmas sugar cookies never last long at my house. The kids have some kind of radar that points them right to a cookie the moment their little tummies rumble. Or even when they’re not hungry–I swear the cookies disappear faster than I can make them.
But, if you can keep the kids away, and you want to keep the cookies around for a bit, I recommend putting the sugar roll cookies in a single layer in an airtight container. They’ll last at least 3-5 days on the counter that way without any problem–though if you don’t seal the container, they might dry out. If you’d like to keep them a bit longer than that, even, plan to take that airtight container of cookies and pop it in the fridge.
In the refrigerator, the cookies should last 12-15 days.

CAN YOU FREEZE Sugar Roll COOKIES?
These traditional Christmas cookies freeze really well. They’re so basic, no chocolate or anything, so you don’t even have to be worried about stuff falling off. You could make a ton of cookies ahead of your party and save them for a long time. Months even.
Just put the sugar roll cookies in a single-layer in the airtight container and just pop them in the freezer. That way they’ll last 3-5 months.
When you’re ready to have a sugar roll cookie, you’ll just pull them out, let them thaw on the counter and you’re good to go!

TIPS FOR BAKING sugar roll COOKIES
Oh, your sugar cookies came out flat instead of fluffy? That’s too bad. Good news, though? I have a handful of tips to troubleshoot your flat cookies:
- The oven was too hot. If you didn’t set the oven to a higher temperature than the recipe called for, your oven might need to be calibrated.
- The oven was cold. Yeah, if your oven wasn’t fully preheated or never reached the required temperature, the cookies might not have risen. So, again, if you didn’t pop your cookies in the oven too early, then you might need to calibrate it.
