How to Make Pink Truffles
Start off by preparing your cake batter according to the directions on your box. You want to add half the pink food coloring during this time.

Once it’s done, you want to cool it completely before assembling the cake balls.

Tips to Make Pink Truffles
If you’ve never made cake truffles before, they can be kind of intimidating. They’re just so perfect in all the photos and you feel like you can really mess them up–believe me, I know. So, to help you first-timers out, here’s a few tips I have to help you make pink cake truffles without much fuss.
- If the cake is not moist, don’t panic. You’re just crumbling it up and mixing it with frosting. It will be moist.
- If the cake is “ugly”, don’t panic. Again, you’re just crumbling it up–it makes me feel better to crumble it even when it’s not pretty.
- When you mix-up your crumbled cake and frosting, if it’s not sticking together well, don’t just push-through. It’s ok to add a little more frosting. Just. Fine.
- Sometimes, if you’re using chocolate, it can be too thick for proper coating of balls like truffles. That’s why I recommend the candy melts. They’re just more consistent and made for dipping things in.
- Wait a good long time before you drizzle on that last bit for the lines, that way the candy melts underneath don’t absorb the new candy melt drizzle. Then your effort is just wasted.
How Long Do Cake Truffles Last?
At room temperature, they’re not going to last long. The candy coating will be soft and the cake inside won’t stick together the best way ever. You want them to be chilled. So, pop your cake truffles into an airtight container and then the fridge. At that point, you can expect your cake truffles to last 12-14 days.
Can You Freeze Cake Truffles?
Yes. Absolutely. Because you’re not using a dark chocolate, you can put your truffles into the freezer, which will allow you to keep them around for 3-5 months without them getting mushy or ew.
