Easy Snickerdoodle Cookie Recipe
What You Need to Make This EASY SNICKERDOODLE COOKIE RECIPE
Cookies
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1 cups softened butter
- 2 eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- 3 ½ cups flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
Topping
- 3 tablespoons sugar
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon

How to Make This EASY SNICKERDOODLE COOKIE RECIPE
Preheat your oven to 375 degrees and line two cookie sheets with parchment paper. Set aside.
Cream sugar and butter in a small mixing bowl.
Add the eggs and vanilla, then beat again until the mixture has a smooth consistency. In a separate bowl, combine dry ingredients.
Combine the dry ingredients with the wet ingredients in 1/3 increments, stirring between each increment, then mix until the cookie dough is well mixed.
Whisk together the sugar and cinnamon for the topping in a bowl or on a plate. I like to do this on a plate and then roll the cookie dough balls through it like a dredge.
Roll the cookie dough batter into 2-inch size balls then roll in the topping.
Place each cookie dough ball on cookie sheet with 2-inches between.
Flatten each ball of cookie dough.
Bake for 8-10 minutes.
Remove from the oven and allow to cool completely.

How Long Do Snickerdoodle Cookies Last?
If you want to leave your snickerdoodle cookies on the counter, I’d recommend that you keep them in an airtight container so they stay as fresh as possible. If you do this, you can expect your snickerdoodle cookies to last about 3-5 days.
If you want your cookies to last longer, like 8-12 days, you can put them in the same airtight container and just put them in the fridge. Because I don’t like cold cookies, if I put them in the fridge, I usually let them rest on the counter for a while, when I’m ready for a snack (or I just pop them in the microwave for 5-10 seconds).
Can Snickerdoodle Cookies be Frozen?
Yes! Snickerdoodle cookies make for a great frozen cookie. You just place the cookies in an airtight container and then they’ll last for 3-5 months in the freezer. Then, when you’re ready to snack, you just warm them in the microwave for 10-15 seconds.

WHAT TO DO WHEN Snickerdoodle COOKIES ARE FLAT?
Oh, your cookies came out flat? That’s too bad. Good news, though? I have a handful of tips to troubleshoot your flat cookies:
- The butter wasn’t room temperature, but was melted. You have to use room temp butter.
- The oven was too hot. If you didn’t set the oven to a higher temperature than the recipe called for, your oven might need to be calibrated.
- The oven was cold. Yeah, if your oven wasn’t fully preheated or never reached the required temperature, the cookies might not have risen. So, again, if you didn’t pop your cookies in the oven too early, then you might need to calibrate it.
- You used really old baking soda. Did you know baking soda can go “flat”? Yeah, it totally can! So, be sure your baking soda is no more than 6-months old and has been stored in an airtight container.
